As we continue to expand, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Estimator to join our Water Department. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the success of our water distribution and transmission projects by providing accurate and competitive cost estimates.

Position Overview

The Estimator – Water Department will be responsible for preparing comprehensive estimates and bid proposals for water distribution and transmission projects. This role requires a strong background in underground pipeline and utility construction, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct project evaluations, including site visits and pre-bid meetings, to assess project scope and requirements.
• Perform detailed material take-offs and obtain competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Develop project schedules, man-hour loading summaries, and crew size assessments.
• Evaluate equipment, labor, and resource requirements to estimate project costs and durations.
• Utilize Microsoft Project and other estimating tools to create resource-loaded project schedules.
• Prepare detailed bid proposals, clearly outlining all qualifiers, stipulations, and exclusions.
• Present cost estimates and proposals for internal review.
• Manage multiple bid submissions simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
• Stay current with industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and best practices.
• Support management with additional estimating tasks as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

• Preferred: 10+ years of experience estimating water distribution and transmission projects.
• Extensive hands-on experience in pipeline and underground utility construction.
• (Preferred) Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Engineering, Project Management, or related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project and estimating software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
• Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across departments.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Willingness to travel for site visits and pre-bid meetings as required.
