HDD ROCK DRILLER
Horizontal Directional Driller / Foreman – Rock Experience Required

CJ Hughes and Affiliates is seeking an experienced Horizontal Directional Driller / Foreman with a strong background in drilling through rock formations. The ideal candidate will be skilled in operating HDD equipment—including a Ditch Witch AT 32—and have the expertise to lead a team safely and efficiently on job sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate directional drilling equipment safely and efficiently
- Utilize hydraulic rock drills and other tooling essential for rock drilling
- Perform daily maintenance on equipment and vehicles
- Set up bore rigs and mix drilling fluids properly
- Pilot and ream bores to maximize production
- Operate HDD tracking systems accurately
- Locate and pothole utilities as required
- Demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making in the field
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating HDD equipment
- Proven experience drilling through rock formations
- Knowledge of rock drill capabilities and limitations
- Clean, insurable driving record
- CDL Class A license preferred
- Willingness to work overtime and travel (per diem provided)
- Strong team orientation and communication skills
Compensation & Benefits:
- Pay: $35.00 – $45.00 per hour
- Full-time, year-round employment (40–50 hours/week)

- Monday to Friday, with overtime as needed
